Health Tech Funding for Drug Discovery, Nutrition, Care Coordination, and More | StartUp Health Insights: Week of May 21, 2024

This week's health innovation funding highlights investments in machine learning for drug discovery, connecting patients with dietitians, streamlining care coordination, and leveraging data for obesity treatment.

This week’s reported health innovation funding included:

LabGenius, a London, UK-based machine learning-driven drug discovery company, raised £35M ($44.5M) led by M Ventures, with participation from Octopus Ventures, LG Corp, Atomico, Kindred Capital, Lux Capital, and Obvious Ventures. <source>

Fay, a San Francisco, CA-based startup that connects dietitians with insurance providers and patients, raised $25M from General Catalyst and Forerunner Ventures, with participation from 1984 and the founders of Grow Therapy and Maven Clinic. <source>

SamaCare, a San Francisco, CA-based cloud platform for prior authorization of specialty medications, raised $17M led by Questa Capital, with participation from Vive Collective and South Park Commons. <source>

Watershed Health, a New Orleans, LA-based company driving patient care coordination across the healthcare ecosystem, raised $13.6M led by First Trust Capital Partners, with participation from FCA Venture Partners, Create Health Ventures, Impact Engine, 450 Ventures, LDH Ventures II/Launchpad Digital Health, MassMutual Ventures, Capstar Partners, and Wanxiang Healthcare Investments. <source>

Hamilton Health Box, a Houston, TX-based provider of a microclinic operating model suitable for various settings, raised $10M led by 1588 Ventures, with participation from Memorial Hermann Health System, Impact Ventures by Johnson & Johnson Foundation, Texas Medical Center Venture Fund, and the Sullivan Brothers. <source>

Phenomix Sciences, a Menlo Park, CA-based precision medicine biotechnology company that brings data intelligence to the treatment of obesity, raised $7.8M. The round included $5.5M from DexCom, Labcorp, Health2047, and others, as well as a $2.3M Phase II SBIR Grant through the NIH. <source>

Daffodil Health, a tech company focused on wasted healthcare administrative costs, raised $4.6M led by Maverick Ventures, with participation from Epic Ventures. <source>
