Cala Health Raises $50M for Wearable Tremor Treatment | StartUp Health Insights: Week of Dec 10, 2024

StartUp Health company Cala Health's products are the only FDA-cleared, clinically validated noninvasive devices for the relief of hand tremors, allowing patients with essential tremor to return to the moments that matter. This new funding will propel Cala's commercialization trajectory, notably with the recent positive Medicare Coverage Determination for Cala TAPS™ (Transcutaneous Afferent Patterned Stimulation) Therapy.

Cala Health, a San Mateo, CA-based non-invasive bioelectronic medicine company in the StartUp Health community, raised $50M led by Vertex Growth Fund and Nexus NeuroTech Ventures, with participation from Action Potential, Johnson & Johnson, Lightstone, Lux, GV (Google Ventures), OSF Ventures, Ascension Ventures, TriVentures, Reimagined Ventures, Peak6, and Fiscus. <source>

Cleerly, a Denver, CO-based AI-powered cardiovascular imaging startup, raised $106M led by Insight Partners, with participation from Battery Ventures. <source>

Soda Health, a Bentonville, AR-based health benefits technology platform, raised $50M led by General Catalyst, with participation from Bruce Broussard, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Define Ventures, Qiming Venture Partners USA, and SVB Capital. <source>

Sage, a New York, NY-based provider of an operations management platform for senior living, raised $35M led by IVP, with participation from Friends & Family Capital, PLUS Capital, Maveron, Goldcrest Capital, Distributed Ventures, and Animo Ventures. <source>

Sollis Health, a New York, NY-based concierge medicine provider, raised $33M led by Foresite Capital, with participation from Torch Capital, Montage Ventures, Friedom Partners, Read Capital, and One Eight Capital, and other investors. <source>

Merative, an Ann Arbor, MI-based data, analytics, and technology provider for employers, health plans, healthcare providers, governments, life sciences, and benefits advisors, raised $25M from Morgan Health. <source>

Biomemory, a Paris, France-based DNA data storage company, raised $18M led by Crédit Mutuel Innovation, with participation from the French Tech Seed fund, Blast, the Deep Tech 2030 fund, Paris Business Angels, Sorbonne Venture, Adnexus, Prunay, Next Sequence, and Accelerem. <source>

Evidently, a Palo Alto, CA-based provider of an AI platform for healthcare workflows, raised $15M led by DN Capital, with participation from FRAMEWORK, Clear Ventures, and Fellows Fund. <source>

52North, a Cambridge, UK-based medtech company focused on urgent care pathways in oncology, raised £4.72M ($6M) led by KHP Ventures and Cedars-Sinai Intellectual Property Co., with participation from OKG Capital, Cambridge Enterprise Ventures, Cancer Research Horizons, Macmillan Cancer Support, and angel investors. <source>

Growl, an Austin, TX- and Paris, France-based AI-powered interactive boxing coach for family fitness, raised $4.75 led by Skip Capital, with participation from Kima Ventures, Teampact Ventures, and Ciryl Gane. <source>

Anise Health, a New York, NY-based digital mental health startup for Asian Americans, raised $3M led by Kicker Ventures, with participation form Authentic Heart, Change Paradox Ventures, Progression Fund, How Women Invest, Celtic House Asia Partners, Nextblue, Gold House Ventures, strategic angel investors, and a Phase 1 Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant from the National Institute of Mental Health. <source>

Offcall, a San Francisco, CA-based career platform built by and for physicians, raised $2M from Bloomberg Beta and Roar Ventures, with participation from physicians across the US. <source>

Wanda Health, a Bristol, UK-based provider of a platform for remote patient monitoring and virtual care, raised £1M ($1.3M) led by EMV Capital Partners Limited. <source>

Care IO, a Princeton, NJ-based startup which specializes in healthcare data governance and interoperability, raised an undisclosed seed funding round led by Jaswinder Chadha and Satvinder Singh. <source>
