Abvance Receives $3.9M to Support Diabetes Therapeutic | StartUp Health Insights: Week of Sep 10, 2024

Abvance Therapeutics has received a Program Related Investment from The Helmsley Charitable Trust to support development of its novel insulin and glucagon combined formulation.

This week, Abvance Therapeutics – a member of StartUp Health’s T1D Moonshot Community – announced a $3.9M Program Related Investment from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. The PRI will support the pre-clinical development of ABV100, Abvance’s proprietary, clinically-validated combination of insulin and glucagon with a goal of improving glycemic control while reducing hypoglycemia for people with diabetes who require rapid-acting insulin. <source>

Superluminal Medicines, a Boston, MA-based company that uses generative biology, chemistry, and machine learning approaches to create medicines, raised $120M led by RA Capital Management, with participation from Insight Partners, NVentures (NVIDIA’s venture capital arm), Gaingels, Catalio Capital Management, Eli Lilly and Company, and Cooley. <source>

Qualifyze, a Frankfurt, Germany-based company that specializes in supply chain risk management for the life sciences industry, raised $54M led by Insight Partners, with participation from HV Capital, HarbourVest Partners, H14, and Cherry Ventures. <source>

CorFlow Therapeutics, a Baar, Switzerland-based company focused on diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for restoring healthy microvascular blood flow, raised €44M ($48.5M) co-led by Broadview Ventures and Panakes Partners, with participation from 415 Capital, Merieux Equity Partners, Laerdal Million Lives Fund, Wellington Partners, M&L Investments, Unorthodox Ventures, KOFA Healthcare, and Monte Carlo Capital. <source>

Thatch, a San Francisco, CA-based employer-focused health benefits platform, raised $38M led by General Catalyst and Index Ventures, with participation from SemperVirens, the General Partnership, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and Avid Ventures. <source>

Viome Life Sciences, a Bellevue, WA-based startup developing microbiome products and health diagnostic tools, raised $25M from Khosla Ventures, Marc Benioff, Bold Capital WRG Ventures, and others. <source

Sounder Benefits, a Boise, ID-based healthtech startup that provides total benefit solutions for high-growth companies, raised $7.5M from undisclosed inventors. <source>

CardiaTec, a Cambridge, UK-based startup employing AI to decode the biology behind cardiovascular disease, raised $6.5M led by Montage Ventures, with participation from Laidlaw Scholars Ventures, Apex Ventures, and Continuum Health Ventures. <source>

Constantiam Biosciences, a Houston, TX-based startup focused on powering genomic medicine, received a $2.05M Phase II SBIR grant from the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). <source>

Bone Index, a Kuopio, Finland-based medical technology company focused on bone health diagnostics, raised an undisclosed amount led by Lynx Financial. <source

CancerIQ, a Chicago, IL-based precision health platform that empowers healthcare providers to personalize cancer prevention and early detection for their patients, raised an undisclosed amount from Decathlon Capital Partners. <source>

CuraLinc Healthcare, a Chicago, IL-based provider of employee assistance (EAP), student, and workforce mental health programs, raised an undisclosed amount from Lightyear Capital. <source>

Curio Digital Therapeutics, a Princeton, NJ-based developer of digital therapeutics for postpartum depression (PPD) and other women’s mental health conditions, raised an undisclosed amount from RYSE Asset Management, ONCE, Bridge Point Capital, and Avestria. <source>

Forge Health, a New York, NY-based outpatient mental health and substance use care provider, raised an undisclosed amount from MFO Ventures. <source>

GoChallenge, a Dublin, Ireland-based provider of an employee engagement platform focused on promoting health and wellness, raised an undisclosed amount from John O’Shea. <source>

MyndYou, a New York, NY-based provider of conversational AI solutions for healthcare, raised an undisclosed amount from WindRose Health. <source>

neuro42, a San Francisco, CA-based developer of portable MRI systems for neuroimaging and interventions, raised an undisclosed amount from Zynext Ventures. <source>
