Sana Health Receives $3.4M Grant from the DoD for PTSD Study | StartUp Health Insights: Week of May 28, 2024

The Department of Defense has awarded StartUp Health company Sana Health a $3.4 million grant to help support them on their health moonshot mission to redefine healthcare’s approach to chronic pain and mental health.

Sana Health, a Louisville, CO-based company that has been in the StartUp Health community since 2020, received a $3.4M grant from the U.S. Department of Defense to conduct a pivotal study on PTSD through the first quarter of 2026. This grant is part of a broader investment by the DoD into Sana's technology, which also includes grants for pilot studies on adjustment disorder and pain and fatigue in military healthcare workers. <source>

Allez Health, a San Diego, CA-based provider of a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) biosensor platform, raised $60M led by Osang Healthcare, with participation from existing investors. <source>

Tuesday Health, a Nashville, TN-based startup focused on value-based care dedicated to transforming serious illness, raised $60M from Valtruis, Blue Venture Fund, Mass General Brigham Ventures, and CareSource. <source>

Boulder Care, a Portland, OR-based provider of telehealth solutions for treatment of substance use disorders, raised $35M led by Advance Venture Partners (AVP), joined by Stripes, with participation from existing investors, including First Round Capital, Qiming Venture Partners, and Laerdal Million Lives Fund. <source>

Atropos Health, a  Palo Alto, CA-based startup focused on translating real-world clinical data into high-quality personalized real-world evidence for care, raised $33M led by Valtruis, with participation from Cencora Ventures,  McKesson Ventures, Merck GHI Fund, Breyer Capital, Emerson Collective, and Presidio Ventures. <source>

Expressable, an Austin, TX-based virtual speech therapy provider, raised $26M led by HarbourVest Partners, with participation from Digitalis Ventures, F-Prime Capital, and Lerer Hippeau. <source>

Resilience, a Paris, France-based remote patient care solution company focused on cancer patients, raised $25M led by Picus Capital and Red River West, with participation from Cathay Innovation, Singular, and Seaya Ventures. <source>

Spectrum.Life, a Dublin, Ireland-based healthtech company that delivers clinically-backed digital health, mental health and wellbeing solutions to organizations and their people, raised €17M ($18.5M) led by Act Venture Capital, with participation from existing investors. <source>

HoneyNaps, a Seoul, South Korea-based startup that offers AI for the diagnosis of sleep disorders, raised $11.6M from Korea Industrial Bank, Hi investment Partners, and QUAD Investment Management. <source>

Amino Health, a San Francisco, CA-based digital healthcare navigation company, raised $10M led by Transformation Capital. <source>

Welbe, a Mexico City, Mexico-based provider of occupational health management solutions for large and medium-sized enterprises, raised $7M co-led by Volpe Capital and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) from the World Bank Group, with participation from NAZCA, Kortex, GreenRock, Marathon, and Parceiro Ventures. <source>

Videra Health, an Orem, UT-based provider of an AI-driven mental health assessment platform, raised $5.6M led by Peterson Ventures, with participation from. Mercato Partners, Epic Ventures, and Philo Ventures. <source>

StrokeDx, a Pasadena, CA-based company focused on next-generation stroke technology, raised $5M led by DigiTx Partners, with participation by Freeflow Ventures and other existing investors. <source>

OncoveryCare (formerly VivorCare), a Boston, MA-based developer of a novel cancer survivorship care model, raised $4.5M led by .406 Ventures, with participation from the McKay Institute for Oncology Transformation at Tennessee Oncology. <source>

Superpower, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of a healthcare platform, raised $4M led by Susa Ventures, with participation from Long Journey Ventures, Family Fund, Atman VC, 24 Carrot VC, Focalpoint Partners, Seaside Ventures, and angel investors. <source>

TadHealth, a Newport Beach, CA-based provider of a mental health platform, raised $1.6M led by Halcyon Venture Partners, with participation from USC Viterbi School of Engineering Venture Fund, Halcyon Angels, and RevFund. <source>

Carl, a New York, NY-based agetech company dedicated to providing dementia-friendly products, raised $1.15M from undisclosed investors. <source>
